information does not solve your problem.
I just installed the 30 day trial, but I don't see data displaying.
HOSTS: Real LAN or WAN hosts must be entered in the "Hosts" before
data will show in most of the tabbed display grids. However, you should see live data in the last tab (Live Syslog)
if the following UDP Ports are opened. Read below.
TRIAL DAY: The trial day maybe expired.
Contact us
for
further assistance.
IP/PORT: Your Network Firewall or Router appliance must be setup to send syslog data to the
workstation IP which SyslogIT is installed. Use port 514 UDP.
DAEMONS: SyslogIT uses port 514 UDP to import syslog data. You must STOP
any program or service (Daemon) that uses this port. ie... kiwi syslog daemon...
FIREWALL: Your Operating
System (O/S) maybe blocking port 514 UDP.
Temporarily disable
the O/S firewall
for trouble-shooting purposes and run SyslogIT again.
ANTI-VIRUS: You
may have an Anti-Virus program blocking port 514 UDP. Temporarily disable all Anti-Virus
functions like Spyware and Internet Work protection trouble-shooting purposes and
run SyslogIT again.
Does SyslogIT import existing syslog files?

Yes, starting with version 2.0 released 08/03/2007.

Import speeds average 57 log lines per second.
Why are some feature tabs missing?

You are viewing Syslog in "Professional View". Go to View -> SyslogIT Version -> "Professional / Enterprise" and select "Enterprise", then click OK. The program will close and reopen showing all the Tabs.
Do I have to enter every network computer in the 'Hosts' lists to get SyslogIT
to log syslog data?

No, you don't need to enter ANY network computer in the 'Hosts' list to enable
syslog data logging to the database. However, only "Network Activity, Port Scans,
Secure Ports, Record
Search and Live Syslog" tabs will view any data.
How do I get SyslogIT to simply log syslog data so I can search it later?

Install SyslogIT
and make sure the Network Firewall is sending syslog data to the IP address of the
SyslogIT computer and using port 514. Read other FAQ's above for trouble-shooting
